If you need an alloy that is not in the catalogue, just ask: it can be supplied, though without a ready-made parameter set.
You can buy the powder wherever you like; the machine doesn't require you to. We sell you ours because it arrives ready to print, not because you have no other option.

Publishing a number without specifying the conditions under which it was measured is only publishing half the information, and usually the favorable half.

Powder is sold in a sealed container and by weight, never loose: opening and decanting is the moment a batch gets contaminated and traceability is lost. The container is set by the material and is not a choice: a 2.5 L bottle or a 3.6 L plastic pot.

Reserving a batch matters more than it looks: switching melt halfway through a production run forces you to requalify, and that costs more than the powder itself.

Preferential price and scheduled deliveries
It is replaced. The certificate is not a piece of paper that comes along with the powder: it is what you are buying, and if the values do not match what was declared, the batch goes back.
If you are in the middle of a production run, we hold material from the same melt for six months so you do not have to requalify halfway.
When a batch stops being good enough for your part, it is not rubbish. We collect it and it goes into the recovery circuit instead of ending up in a skip.
No clause obliges you to buy powder from us because you own one of our machines. The annual contract is voluntary: whoever does not want one buys by the kilo and that is that.
The chemical composition of the batch, with the test results on the back. This is the document they'll ask for when someone audits your part, and if you don't have the original, it can't be reconstructed.
The measured particle size distribution, not the nominal one in the catalog, is what determines how the layer spreads and, consequently, the density of the part.
Traceability starts at the can. Without a batch number, there's no way to qualify anything afterward, or to know which parts were affected by a problem.

Today, the order is finalized via email, and payment is made by bank transfer or invoice. A store with an online shopping cart and payment system is the next step, and a decision on that is pending.

Subsequent orders for the same alloy are drawn from the same reserved batch, while supplies last. A repeat order does not start from scratch.
It's worth mentioning here, on the page where we're selling it to you: an ALBA machine works with the powder you choose. It doesn't have a label the machine has to recognize, there's no container that expires via software, and there are no locked parameters preventing you from using another supplier.
That's a product decision, not a concession. The parameterization is open precisely so you can qualify your own powder—whether it's from another supplier, reused powder, or one you want to develop yourself.
